Bret has acquired over 25 years of experience by learning, applying, and informing clients of the complex business field of accounting. Bret realized his passion for accounting, with a focus in taxation, and completed his accounting coursework at The University of Texas at Dallas to obtain his CPA license. In the beginning of his career, Bret and his father worked as partners at W&A. The early partnership allowed Bret to understand what sets a CPA apart and how to run a firm that has been providing services for over 50 years. Bret serves as the CFO for Richardson Bike Mart, is the comptroller for small businesses, and is named as a trustee for a number of both simple and complex irrevocable and revocable trusts. He has a comprehensive understanding of the oil and gas industry from the operational side to the management of minority working or royalty interests.

Bret’s first career choice was not accounting but instead a career in healthcare. Bret received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Texas Tech University. Bret managed all operations of an occupational therapy clinic, specializing in hand therapy, for several years before he discovered his love for business and accounting. Since then, he has been an integral factor in building and developing Walker & Associates into the firm it is today.

Bret enjoys spending time with his two dogs, watching Game of Thrones (and collecting the swords), is an avid college football and Dallas Mavericks fan, and has an affinity for horror movies. His pride and joy are his wife and two daughters, who he loves spending time with
